Born of water and the Spirit

0

Ray was added to God's family October 24th!  God is amazing in the way He works and brings people together.

John 1:12-13
12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

A Prayer Request for Tacoma

0

A short time ago we had a send off for our Phoenix brother,  Josh Durfee, when he began his journey to Tacoma, Washington.  The campus ministry in Tacoma had three sisters, Mckenzie, Kyra, and Nicole, at the time as well as leaders Marcus and Naomi Wallace; Josh added to their number as a campus intern.  Currently, there are six guys and four girls studying the Bible.  Let's keep the ministry and those studying in our hearts and continue praying for the ministry in Tacoma!
God is doing amazing things through our brothers and sisters in Washington - let us never stop believing in the power of prayer.  James 5:16 "...The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective"

Modesty on Palm Walk?

1

Catherine Smith of The State Press - An Independent Daily Serving Arizona State University - wrote a letter to ASU women on September 24th urging them to take their bodies off clearance rack and return to modesty.  Check it out!
...................................................
Ladies -we live in a society that tells us to bear all, flaunt our curves, and be proud of the freedom we have to wear as little as we want.  The entertainment world and the media have been giving us the message for decades: sex sells.  How much longer will we conform to the patterns of this world just because it's the latest trend or might get us some attention for a hot second?  I want to tell the world I AM NOT FOR SALE, I WILL NOT CONFORM (Romans 12:2).

I think most of us can agree that we want a man who will respect us and love us, not fall in lust with us then throw us away the minute we lose their attention.  God wants this for us too!  God despises lust. As it says in 1 John 2:16-17: “For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father but of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”  So how can we as women honor God and abide by his will when it comes to modesty?  The scriptures say it all:
  • Timothy 2:9 - "And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes." (NLT)
  • 1 Peter 3:3-4 - "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." (NIV)
To my sisters in Christ and the women of ASU, let's dress with dignity and modesty not only to let the men around us know that more effort will be required but that we have respect for ourselves and want to bring glory to the Lord, our God.  In bringing glory to Him we will be fulfilled and attract the man God is preparing for us.  What do you say ladies - let's reclaim Palm Walk!

He added to their number...

It has been an amazing semester seeing two baptisms a few weeks ago. Just this past Saturday, Patricia Paynee (right) decided to make Jesus Lord of her Life. We were all so encouraged to witness her amazing conversion to Christ. It has been encouraging to see young women from ASU realize how much they need God and that with Him, it is truly a life worth living to the FULL!!!

Go and Make Disciples

1

Matthew 28:18-21
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

God has been moving powerfully in the last week as our campus ministry witnessed two women make Jesus Lord of their lives! Last Wednesday after an inspiring devotional, Valerie Torres was baptized into Christ. Days later, Capri Dewitt made Jesus Lord of her life and got baptized midnight Sunday morning! We are confident that God will continue to do great things in our campus ministry as we faithfully rely on Him.
